Aesthetical ecology of Knightsbridge Private Park

15 March 2015

The ‘invisible’ substation installed in Knightsbridge Private Park not only supplies electricity to the residential complex but also handles aesthetics: In the English park where the substation is located, the residents and guests of the complex will only see the landscape designs from Chris Beardshaw.

The power equipment for the complex is supplied by ABB, a leading global manufacturer of electric equipment. Special dry three-phase DTE hi-TPlus transformers were custom-built for Knightsbridge Private Park. Each unit is just 2.4 metres high. This has enabled them to be sited in a confined space within a cast concrete structure placed six metres underground. It should be noted that this underground structure has a unique design featuring hoisting equipment that makes it possible to access the transformers at any time.

In addition to transformer-based uninterrupted power supply units, the residential complex will also feature medium and low voltage equipment from ABB. Innovative electrical equipment of this level, including automatic circuit breakers from SACE and an Ekip Touch LSI electronic releaser, represent a huge step forward in terms of automation and innovation in low voltage electricity supply that reduces the risk of accidents and drastically improves safety.
